One Way to Deal With Budget Crisis

In response to the April 30 article “Ventura Officials Predict $740,000 Budget Shortfall.”
Ventura City Council members could follow the example set by the Ventura and Los Angeles County boards of supervisors.
Vote themselves a pay raise. Increase the pension benefits. Create more administrator positions. Last of all and best for them, vote for severance or early retirement bonus. Cut the budget for health, education and welfare.
Now proclaim that we have dealt with the crisis. Our plan has solved the shortfall!
