2 Nurses Honored for Outstanding Work

Two nurses from Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Assn. were awarded the Ventura County Education Council’s Nurse Excellence Award.
Linda Hampson of Camarillo was honored in the education category for her work with patients and participation in countywide educational councils. Leah Hunter of Ojai was honored in the administrative category for leadership in evaluating and improving services provided by the association.
Cal Lutheran Names Honor Society Members * New members of the Cal Lutheran University Scholastic Honor Society were announced during recent Honors Day Convocation ceremonies.
Honorees included Anne Baltzer of Fillmore; Diane Kahdeman, Gayane Pogosyan and Suzanne Uhland, all of Simi Valley.
The award is the highest academic honor at Cal Lutheran University. Students qualify for the honor society by maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75 or by being in the top 5% of their graduating class.
Cal Lutheran Picks Poetry Prize Winners * Cal Lutheran University’s Mark Van Doren Poetry Prize has been awarded to two university seniors. Christopher Moya of Simi Valley and Ann Catalano of Fillmore, both English majors, were selected by the English department based on submitted poems.
The Mark Van Doren Poetry Prize was first awarded in 1972 and became an endowed scholarship of $5,000 through donations of Mark Van Doren’s sons, John and Charles Van Doren.
La Reina High Student Earns Scholarship * Jennifer Horton, a senior at La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks, earned an Academic Achievement Award at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. The award provides a four-year scholarship to the liberal arts institution. Students nominated for the award were invited to submit an essay and participate in an interview.
