ARV Assisted Living Fills New Position

* Abdo H. Khoury has been appointed to the newly created position of president of the apartment division of ARV Assisted Living Inc. in Costa Mesa. Prior to joining ARV, he was a principal with Financial Performance Group in Newport Beach, providing business and management services to the real estate industry. Joseph I. Davis joined the company as president of its ARV Healthcare Inc. subsidiary. He was previously district sales manager at Imed Corp. Davis also founded Innofusion Corp., a home infusion therapy company, and served as president and chief executive.

* Thomas F. Herlihy has been named interim president and chief executive of Smith Technology Corp., a Newport Beach engineering, remediation and construction firm. He succeeds E. Brian Smith, who remains chairman. Herlihy is a principal of Walker, Truesdell & Associates, a management consulting firm. In addition, Frank J. Gorry has been appointed senior vice president and chief operating officer; Anthony J. Dury, senior vice president and chief administrative officer; and William T. Campbell, senior vice president of finance.

* Richard E. Lamprecht has been appointed senior vice president of Irvine Apartment Communities, a real estate investment trust. He is responsible for all operations and new development on the Irvine Ranch. Lamprecht has been vice president of development since the company’s formation in December 1993.

* Jay Pyle has been named vice president of operations for General Automation Inc. in Irvine. Pyle has been with General Automation since 1978, starting with the company as director of Consolidated Technology International, a subsidiary of General Automation. Over the past 19 years, Pyle has worked in many areas of management, including vice president of operations. Before joining General Automation, Pyle spent 23 years with the Electronic Components Group of TRW Inc.

* Robert H. Osbrink has been appointed senior vice president and regional manager of Grubb & Ellis Co.’s Orange County/Inland Empire commercial brokerage operation. Osbrink has been with the company since 1988. Before that, he was a vice president with the Irvine Co.

* Richard Spargo has been named vice president of land development for the Southern California division of Richmond American Homes of California. Prior to joining the company, Spargo was vice president of project development for Pacific Gateway Homes, San Juan Group and Akins Development. In addition, John Mecklenburg was appointed regional manager and Frank Woolsey, director of purchasing.

* Danielle Manto has been appointed director of operations for Carmelo’s Ristorante in Corona del Mar. Manto, daughter of the founders, has worked at the restaurant in various capacities for the past eight years.

* Glenn E. Hemmerle has been elected to the board of the Bombay Co. Inc., a Fort Worth specialty home furnishings company. Hemmerle is president and chief executive of the Johnny Rockets Group Inc., a restaurant chain headquartered in Irvine.

* Philip D. Ellett has been named president of Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro’s Europe unit.

He succeeds John William Winkelhaus II, who was named executive vice president of global channel assembly. Ellett was previously senior vice president and chief operating officer of Ingram Micro Europe. Also, Larry L. Elchesen, president of Ingram Micro Asia-Pacific, is returning to the U.S. for medical reasons, and David R. Dukes, vice chairman, will serve as the president of the Asia unit until a successor is named.

* Sami Mansour has joined J.L. Patterson & Associates, an Orange-based civil and trackwork engineering firm, as vice president, division of rail. His responsibilities include business development for railroad design and construction management projects. Mansour was previously western regional director for Southern Pacific Railroad.

* Timothy L. Carda has been named corporate senior vice president of development for Pacific Health Corp. He had been chief executive and administrator of Anaheim General Hospital, which Pacific Health oversees. Reynold R. Welch succeeds him at Anaheim General. Welch will also oversee the operations of Buena Park Medical Center and serve as corporate vice president of planning.

* Timothy F. Daly has joined the Irvine Medical Center as associate administrator. He was previously director of ancillary services at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
