Clippers May Not Be Trendy Enough for L.A.

Contrary to Chris Agrella’s 10 sarcastic reasons for the no-sellout Clipper playoff game in Viewpoint last week, I have only one. The game was not a sellout because the Clippers don’t have the celebrity players. In the NBA, where the name is more salable than the game, the Clippers don’t have the big name. In Southern California, where pretentious fans are a dime a dozen, I was pleased to see the Clipper fans who did bother to show up were zealous in their towel-waving efforts.
The win didn’t happen, but maybe the Clippers earned a little respect for not quitting.
