Summer Concert Series Scaled Back

There will still be music in Moorpark’s Arroyo Vista Community Park this summer. Just not as much of it.
Faced with declining attendance and donations for the city’s free outdoor concerts, Moorpark officials had considered scrapping the program.
But late Wednesday, the City Council decided to scale the series back this summer from four shows to two, in addition to the annual July 3rd concert.
By reducing the number of concerts, council members hoped the city would be able to adequately promote the shows and build attendance.
If the plan works, they may increase the number to three shows next year.
Council members also discussed other ideas for boosting attendance. The Sunday afternoon shows may start a little earlier, perhaps at 4 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. And the city may focus on types of music that have proved to be a big draw in Moorpark, such as country and oldies rock.
