Tustin’s Elmer Roldan pitched a no-hitter to lead the Tillers to a 9-0 victory over Saddleback in a Golden West League baseball game at Saddleback High. But it wasn’t the only no-hitter pitched in the league Wednesday.
Servite’s Brian Wolfe, D.J. Houlton and Jim Munroe combined on a no-hitter in an 18-0 victory over Santa Ana.
Roldan (6-0) retired the first 18 Saddleback batters he faced. But in the top of the seventh, Tustin shortstop Omar Barrera lost Joseph Tagaloa’s pop-up in the sun and the ball bounced off Barrera’s shoulder for an error. Tagaloa was the Roadrunners’ only baserunner.
Roldan struck out three and walked none for the Tillers (16-5, 9-3).
“I wasn’t looking for the no-hitter,” Roldan said. “I just wanted to win for the team. But when the last inning came, I said, ‘Why not?’ ”
In Servite’s 18-0 victory over Santa Ana, Alvan Loreto had five RBIs and Ryan Garko had four for the first-place Friars (20-3, 11-1), ranked third in the county.
