* UPDATE: Martinez surprisingly has struggled this season. In hopes of becoming only the sixth active pitcher to win 20 games twice in his career, Martinez instead has had control problems. He has walked a team-high 25 batters in 40 2/3 innings and has a 4.43 earned-run average. He has pitched 5 1/3 innings in four of his seven starts. Martine, has fared quite well against the Reds with a 12-5 record and 3.81 ERA. He has dominated All-Star shortstop Barry Larkin, limiting him to a .196 batting average with only three extra-base hits in 46 at-bats. Outfielder Reggie Sanders, activated Tuesday off the disabled list, is batting only .174 against Martinez with eight strikeouts in 23 at-bats. With Brett Butler going on the disabled list today, Billy Ashley may now become the everyday left fielder. Schourek, who has struggled along with everyone else on the Reds’ team, is 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA against the Dodgers. Catcher Mike Piazza is two for 10 against Schourek, and both hits are homers. No one has faced Schourek more than third baseman Todd Zeile, who is eight for 30 (.267) with one double and one triple.
