Postal Workers to Collect for Food Bank
On Saturday, Ventura County postal workers will collect nonperishable foods, along with the mail, as part of the countywide Food Share program.
The annual National Letter Carriers’ food drive, which collected 75 tons of food last year, is organized by Food Share, a Ventura County food bank.
During the food drive, letter carriers will pick up any food item that is left out by mailboxes, return the food to the post office and then sort it out to be distributed.
The Food Share bank helps feed more than 33,000 people a month through a network of 188 agencies.
