The Orange County Red Cross chapter is sending volunteers to help flood victims in the upper Midwest.
Seven have already gone to assist with damage assessment, logistics support, and food and shelter management in affected areas of Minnesota and North and South Dakota. Another volunteer left this week to help counsel victims, said chapter spokeswoman Sarah Shogren.
Since the Midwest flooding began last month, the Red Cross has opened 26 shelters and served more than 235,600 meals to flooded-out families and rescue workers.
Donations can be made to the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter, P.O. Box 11364, Santa Ana, CA 92711-1364.
