Lesbian Challenges Gay Adoption Ban in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Florida lesbian began her court battle Monday to overturn the state’s law against gay adoption.
Lawyers for June Amer, 45, and the state of Florida made opening statements in Fort Lauderdale Circuit Court.
Amer was represented by Karen Coolman Amlong, on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union, who argued that the law denies lesbians the right to provide “loving homes” for children.
