New Class to Graduate From Leadership Academy

The Ventura County Leadership Academy will conduct its second graduation ceremony at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday.
Graduates completed a nine-month program that included group discussions, site visits, seminars and independent research focusing on issues that affect the quality of life in Ventura County. Agriculture, communications and the media, economic development, education, government, health, housing and public safety were among the areas studied.
The Leadership Academy was created in 1994 by United Way of Ventura County to develop effective leaders dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Ventura County.
“The academy has a unique program with a diverse group of citizens who can take the experience of the Leadership Academy and use it to make life better for people throughout Ventura County,” said Oxnard Police Chief Harold Hurtt, president of the academy’s steering committee.
This year’s graduates are:
From Thousand Oaks--Evie Bystrom Herrera, Jackie Chang, Liliana Dujan and Forrest Frields.
From Ventura--Elizabeth Callahan, Lynda Paige Fulford, Rudy Gonzales, Tanya Gonzales, Joe Howry and Anthoula Randopoulos.
From Oxnard--Margaret M and Alisa Washington.
From Santa Paula--Melissa Macias and Ronald S. Merson.
From Westlake Village--Michael Pilla and Ernest Thurmond.
Also attending were Linda Ehrlich of Agoura, Julie Helm of Oak View, Charles S. Kubasek of Camarillo, Monica Nolan of Newbury Park, Kim Scott of Moorpark and Thomas Trigg of Simi Valley.
