Ingram Micro to Distribute Tandberg Data Products

Tandberg Data in Simi Valley announced it has signed an agreement authorizing Ingram Micro Inc. to distribute its products throughout the United States and Canada.

The timing of the announcement coincides with Tandberg Data’s recent introduction of its multichannel linear recording technology for high-capacity tape drives.

“As the world’s leading wholesale distributor of technology products and services, Ingram Micro has been very successful in delivering the storage products that resellers . . . want to sell to their customers,” said Richard Severa, vice president of marketing for Tandberg Data.

Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro had worldwide 1996 sales of more than $12 billion. The company operates in 19 countries and distributes more than 36,000 products to more than 100,000 resellers in 120 countries.

According to Dataquest, Tandberg Data has been the dominant supplier of high-capacity quarter-inch tape drives, with more than an 80% share in this segment during the last three years.
