A United Airlines plane on route from Orange County to San Francisco was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday when one of the Boeing 757’s two engines lost power, a United spokesman said.
No one was injured and the 11:40 a.m. landing at LAX was normal, said spokesman Richard Martin. The 188 passengers aboard Flight 1578 were placed on other United flights to San Francisco, Martin said.
Martin said it was unclear why the engine lost power, but “when you have one engine you have to land.”
