LAKE FOREST — An unknown number of thieves cut their way through the roof of a bank early Saturday and pried open two automated teller machines before escaping with an undisclosed amount of money, police said Sunday.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 2:50 a.m. alarm at the Bank of America branch in the 23800 block of El Toro Road, but discovered only tools and a pair of gutted ATMs, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Fred Lisanti.
Money was taken from one of the machines, while the other was destroyed but had its money intact, Lisanti said.
