Trittshuch, Paz Move Rapids Into First, 2-0

Steve Trittshuch and Adrian Paz each scored second-half goals as the Colorado Rapids handed the Tampa Bay Mutiny their second loss of the season, 2-0, in front of 10,714 at Denver.
Trittshuch beat Mutiny goalkeeper Scott Budnick in the 62nd minute off a pass from Chris Henderson, and Paz completed the scoring in the 76th minute, also off a feed from Henderson.
Marcus Hahnemann collected his third shutout of the season, stopping seven shots, as Colorado moved into first place in the Western Conference.
Kansas City 2, New England 1--Imad Baba and Chiquinho Conde each had a goal and an assist as the Revolution defeated the Wizards in rainy conditions before 5,218 at Foxboro, Mass.
Baba scored in the first minute, taking a pass from Conde and sending a spinning right-footed shot past Wizard goalkeeper Mike Amman. Conde scored in the 70th minute off a pass from Baba, and Kansas City’s Preki completed the scoring on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
Columbus 3, San Jose 1--Brian McBride and Doctor Khumalo scored second-half goals as the Crew defeated the Clash at San Jose. Shawn Medved scored for the Clash, who lost for the fourth time before 14,295.

Thomas Dooley, a key member of the U.S. national team since 1992, has signed to play in Major League Soccer through the 1999 season and expects to make his debut for the Columbus Crew on June 7 against Tampa Bay.
