Oxnard’s Colborn Goes the Distance

Pat Colborn pitched all 15 innings for Oxnard College on Saturday, but the Condors lost their season finale, 3-2, to Hancock in a Western State Conference game at Oxnard.
Steven Torres singled home Jeff Gates in the 15th inning for the Bulldogs to break a 2-2 tie.
Colborn (1-1) had 11 strikeouts and allowed 15 hits. All three Hancock runs were earned.
Chuck Harrington had four hits and scored a run for Oxnard (19-21, 12-14).
Moorpark 13, Ventura 2--Corey Fish drove in five runs with two home runs and a single for the Raiders in a WSC game at Moorpark.
Tim Nykoluk doubled twice and singled for Moorpark, scoring three runs.
Casey Vermette pitched a six-hitter and struck out eight for Moorpark (14-28, 9-17).
Jeremy Pierce had two hits, including a run-scoring triple for the Pirates (22-18, 11-15).
Valley 6, Pierce 2--Mike Wertz had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Monarchs (9-32-3, 8-18) in a WSC game at Valley College.
Ruben Lopez (2-4) allowed just two hits in six innings of relief for Valley.
Pepperdine 3-7, San Diego 2-4--Mark Lopez hit a grand slam with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Waves (30-23, 16-7) a sweep in a West Coast Conference doubleheader at Pepperdine.
In the first game, Tyler Ferrer hit a two-run home run in the sixth to help Pepperdine end a six-game losing streak.
SOFTBALL
UC San Diego 3-10, Cal Lutheran 2-1--Wendy Jackson had four hits for the Regals (25-10-1) in the doubleheader, but the Tritons (23-19) swept the nonconference games at UC San Diego.
Kelsey Bennett singled home Erin Cornell with two out in the sixth inning of the first game to break a 2-2 tie.
