Oxley Takes First in Main Event at the Speedway

COSTA MESA — Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano won the 25-lap main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program in front of 5,203 Saturday night at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa finished second, Shawn McConnell of Brea third and Orange’s Jesse Finch fourth.
Other county finishers were Gary Ackroyd from Newport Beach (eighth) and Huntington Beach’s Brian Pappalardo (12th).
Bob Brayton of Midway City won the four-lap Sidecar Main with Parke Weaver of Azusa finishing second.
