Brian May, 63, Australian film composer who wrote theme songs and musical scores for 33 motion pictures. Perhaps the best known of May’s film music were the scores for “The Road Warrior” and “Mad Max.” Others were for “Dr. Giggles,” “Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare,” “Hurricane Smith,” “Steel Dawn,” “Missing in Action II: The Beginning” and “Gallipoli.” For television, he composed music for “Tales From the Crypt,” “Dark Justice,” “Return to Eden” and “The Last Outlaw.” May’s work included 17 motion picture soundtrack albums. Among his international honors was the Miklos Rosza Award for best original score at the Paris International Festival, for the film “The Survivor.” May maintained a home in Los Angeles as well as in Australia. On April 25 in Melbourne, Australia, of a heart attack.
