Muscular Dystrophy Camp Needs Helpers

The Muscular Dystrophy Assn. is seeking volunteers to be counselors at its summer camp this year in Descanso June 23-28.

Volunteers will act as companions to the campers. They must be at least 16 and be able to lift a child.

Activities for counselors and campers include arts, crafts, sports, recreation and nature activities.

Nationwide, more than 4,000 campers are expected to attend Muscular Dystrophy Assn. camps this year.

“Camp is the highlight of the summer for the campers and many volunteers,” said Michele Rodriguez, association staff camp coordinator.

“It is one week of the year when youngsters with muscle-wasting disorders are fully able to participate in a wide range of group outdoor activities that are tailored for their limited mobility.”
