Fien Helps Kennedy Defeat Katella

Christen Fien was two for three and drove in three runs as eighth-ranked Kennedy beat Katella, 5-0, Thursday in an Empire League softball game.

Kelly Bunker was two for three with a run batted in and a run scored also for Kennedy (16-5, 6-0 in league).

El Dorado 2, Cypress 0--Carrie Jeffries pitched a four-hitter and struck out six for El Dorado (14-7, 5-1). Keisha Knight scored both runs for El Dorado. Knight was one for two with a triple and a walk.

Loara 7, Century 5--Jackie Leeman was two for three with three RBIs and Jessica Fossum had two hits and two RBIs for Loara (4-17, 2-4).

In the Century League:

El Modena 4, Orange 3 (10)--Chrissy Lake scored from third during a rundown in the 10th inning for host El Modena (3-3 in league).

Canyon 11, Santa Ana Valley 3--Amber Boeg went two for three with three RBIs and Beka Anderson and Chrystal Hewitt each had two hits for Canyon (18-8-1, 5-1).

In the Freeway League:

Troy 5, Buena Park 1--Lindsey Knoff pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts for Troy (13-12, 4-2). Buena Park is 0-6 in league.

Sonora 4, Fullerton 3--Sonora’s Natalie Garcia led off the seventh with a single and later scored the winning run on a one-out single by Jackie Andersen. Andersen had two hits and two RBIs for the Raiders (18-7, 5-1).

In the Golden West League:

Saddleback 8, Santa Ana 2--Linsey Buendia pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts in a victory for Saddleback (5-12, 2-4). Deana Guzman had two hits for Saddleback.

In the Olympic League:

Calvary Chapel 7, Cerritos Valley Christian 0--Amanda Hallaway and Linda Van Hook homered for Calvary Chapel.

Whittier Christian 7, Ontario Christian 1--Julie Smith was two for three with two runs scored and Joey Miller had two hits and two RBIs for Whittier Christian (10-10, 4-2).

Brea Olinda 8, Savanna 0--Angie Thompson (4-1) pitched a four-hitter and was two for three with two RBIs for Brea Olinda (13-7, 5-1). Tiffany Whitton was two for three with three runs scored for Brea Olinda.

Magnolia 11, Anaheim 2--Chrissy Hartman hit her fourth home run of the year for Magnolia (7-10, 3-3). Kristi Benedict and Wendy Hart also hit home runs for Magnolia.

Western 15, Valencia 5 (6, mercy)--Audra Ratajczak was three for four with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base for first-place Western (14-8, 6-0).

Laguna Hills 12, Estancia 0 (5, mercy)--Kim Stryker (6-4) pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks for Laguna Hills (13-7, 6-0). Mandi McMahon was two for three with three RBIs and a run scored for the Hawks.

University 17, Laguna Beach 0--Adrienne Rice, Alysia Atchley, and Kristin Scarborough combined for 10 hits, including three home runs, and nine RBIs for University (7-12, 4-2).

Aliso Niguel 2, Costa Mesa 0--Candice Heath was two for four and Stephanie Mueller was two for four with a run scored for Aliso Niguel (5-1 in league).
