A decomposed body was found in a popular hiking area of Angeles National Forest, sheriff’s deputies said Thursday.
The body, which could not be identified as male or female, was found Wednesday afternoon by a passerby about 200 feet down an embankment at mile 13.1 of Little Tujunga Road, said Sgt. Susan Cross of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Hikers frequent the area, but it is remote enough that the body, which was not hidden, went undiscovered for some time, Cross said.
Sheriff’s deputies went to the site at 8 a.m. Thursday so they could search in daylight, Cross said.
