In the Sunset League:
Esperanza 13, Huntington Beach 1--Esperanza hit a school-record five home runs, led by Tommy Nicholson with two, to move into sole possession of first place.
Marina 3, Los Alamitos 1--Adam Stiker hit two home runs and pitcher Jason Stewart allowed no earned runs, six hits, struck out nine and walked two for host Marina (14-7, 7-3).
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 11, Century 0--Jordan DeJong (6-1) and Scott Hazen combined on a one-hitter for second-ranked El Dorado (18-3, 8-2). Mark Wade was three for four with four RBIs for the Golden Hawks.
Kennedy 4, Cypress 1--Gabe Roman earned his sixth victory, stranding 15 Cypress baserunners. Roman allowed six hits and five walks through 6 1/3 innings and the Fighting Irish (13-8, 6-4) also committed seven errors. But Roman still allowed only one unearned run.
In the Freeway League:
Troy 10, Sunny Hills 7--Charles Gray had two hits, an RBI and scored two runs to lead Troy (5-15, 3-7) to give Coach Dane Ilertsen his 100th career victory.
In the Garden Grove League:
Garden Grove 4, Santiago 3--Carlos Rivera’s three-run homer in the fourth inning gave Garden Grove a 4-2 lead. Rivera has three hits in the game for the Argonauts (6-14, 4-3).
In the Golden West League:
Tustin 3, Ocean View 2--Richard Lane and Ryan France each had RBI singles and Danny Trujillo was two for three for Tustin (14-5, 7-3).
In the Orange League:
Magnolia 6, Western 2--Justin Reding was three for four with three runs scored to lead ninth-ranked Magnolia (16-1-1, 9-1). In the South Coast League;
Mater Dei 5, Trabuco Hills 3--Brett Kay’s home run in the fifth tied the score, 2-2, and his two-run double in the sixth gave top-ranked Mater Dei a three-run lead. Mike Kolbach (6-2) went the distance, striking out six and walking one for the Monarchs (17-3, 10-0).
