Preliminaries begin in league finals next week as the majority of the girls’ teams compete on Tuesday or Thursday, and the boys’ teams on Wednesday. Leagues that will have particularly close competitions will be the Century, where Villa Park, Canyon and Orange have a shot for the girls’ title at El Modena. In the Sea View, Irvine should dominate in the girls’ competition. However, the boys’ competition will be interesting as Santa Margarita will have its hands full defending its title against Irvine and Corona del Mar at the Heritage Aquatic Complex in Irvine. In the South Coast, which will be contested at Saddleback College, Mission should win in the boys’ competition, but it’s anyone’s guess in the girls’ competition, with Mission and Laguna Hills battling it out. Preliminaries start at 3:15 in all meets.
