The season takes off next week as every league in the county hosts a championship meet, which serves as qualifying trials for the Southern Section finals. In the Sea View League finals at Irvine High, top-ranked Woodbridge will try to outrun hard-charging and second-ranked Santa Margarita. Preliminary races begin Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Finals are set for May 9.
