King OKs Return of Jailed Hamas Leader
King Hussein has decided to allow the political leader of the militant Islamic group Hamas back into the country two years after he was expelled, an official said. Information Minister Samir Mutawe said the king, for humanitarian reasons, would permit Mousa abu Marzuk, who is sought by Israel as a suspected terrorist, to return to Jordan unconditionally. Abu Marzuk, a U.S. resident, was detained in July 1995 when he reentered the United States because his name was on a list of suspected terrorists. Later that year, Israel asked for his extradition, but it recently dropped its request.

In some 1997 stories, and stories from 2001 onward, Mousa abu Marzuk is referred to as Mousa abu Marzook.
