Daniel Burch has been appointed principal at Capistrano Valley High School, and Steven Lawrence has been named principal at Aliso Niguel High School, officials of Capistrano Unified School District announced.
Burch will join Capistrano Valley from Orange Unified School District, where he served as principal at Villa Park High School for four years.
He succeeds Jessica Gorman, who left in December to take an administrative post with Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District.
Burch started his career as a math teacher at San Clemente High School in 1975, then became student activities director at Dana Hills High School in 1981.
Lawrence will join Aliso Niguel from the California Center for School Restructuring, where he has worked on a state and national level for the past year. Before that, he was assistant principal at Torrance High School.
Lawrence also started his educational career in South County, teaching math in 1988 at Trabuco Hills High School in Saddleback Valley Unified.
He succeeds Denise Danne, who was recently named principal of the new Night High School.
