Transamerica Unit Buys REM Reports

Sacramento-based Transamerica Information Management Services said it acquired REM Reports Inc. for an undisclosed amount as part of the expansion of its real estate information business. Walnut Creek-based REM provides reports to title companies and lenders on the real estate market in California and Nevada. The unit of San Francisco-based insurance and finance company Transamerica Corp. said it plans to expand REM’s coverage to include the Southwest and Pacific Northwest. Transamerica stock rose 50 cents to close at $84.75 on the New York Stock Exchange.
