Narayan Helps El Camino Real to Net Gain Over Taft

Bobby Narayan’s 6-0, 6-1 victory over Arash Shirchjini helped El Camino Real High (6-2, 5-0) to a 5-2 victory over Taft (6-2, 4-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference boys’ tennis match Tuesday.
In other boys’ tennis matches:
Birmingham 4, Kennedy 3--Jeff Melnick’s 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ryan Celaya snapped a 3-3 tie for the Braves (4-4, 2-3) in a Northwest Valley Conference match.
Notre Dame 9, Crespi 9 (75-72)--The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Pogany and Niko Gutrugianios of Notre Dame (6-3, 3-1) swept its three opponents in a Mission League match.
Rio Mesa 10, Camarillo 8--Juan Gonzalez swept three matches for host Rio Mesa (11-1) in a nonleague match.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Harvard-Westlake d. Chaminade, 15-2, 15-7, 15-3--Trevor Julian had 12 kills for host Harvard-Westlake (5-3, 3-1) in a Mission League match.
Grant d. Canoga Park, 15-3, 13-15, 15-9, 15-4--Eric Gallarza had 13 kills for host Grant (6-1, 3-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match.
Van Nuys d. North Hollywood, 15-13, 10-15, 11-15, 15-12, 15-1--Larry Najera had 33 kills for Van Nuys (6-1, 4-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match.
Sylmar d. Reseda, 15-4, 15-6, 15-5--Fabian Landeros had 42 assists for host Sylmar (3-4, 1-3) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match.
