SANTA CLARITA — A 15-year-old girl died after being struck by a car on Haskell Canyon Road, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported Tuesday.
Saugus resident Amanda Larson was crossing the street Monday evening near Jeffers Lane, when she was hit by a car traveling north. The driver, 17-year-old John Marbury Jr. of Saugus, was not injured, deputies said.
Larson was walking with a friend, also 15, who was not struck by the car.
Larson was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valancia.
As of Tuesday, no charges were pending in the incident, and further investigation will determine how fast Marbury’s car was traveling and whether the girl was crossing the road legally, said Deputy Mike Shapiro.
