The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department has placed an additional patrol car at the Ojai substation, officials announced Thursday.
The new patrol will cover the Ojai Valley, sections of Oak View and North Ventura Avenue as part of a new beat that deputies hope will improve coverage of the area.
The added car will result in “more coverage by patrol deputies, quicker response times to emergencies and enhanced officer safety for the deputies,” according to authorities.
The new beat will result in some overlap, with two patrol units covering Oak View, Mira Monte and Meiners Oaks.
“It’s worked out best for the officers,” said Sgt. Gregg Whitesell. “The homeowners in that area came out the winners.”
