IRVINE — A Stanford University student from Irvine died in a hiking accident at Yosemite National Park, officials at the park reported Tuesday.
Henry Tien, 21, was hiking with his girlfriend on Upper Yosemite Falls Trail on Monday when he fell and suffered severe head injuries. His girlfriend, whose name was not released, had gone ahead on the trail and did not see the accident, park officials said.
About 30 National Park Service rescue workers reached Tien at 3 p.m. after he fell an unknown distance. He was flown by helicopter to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto, where he died.
