Three men were arrested and six stolen cars were recovered when a police auto theft task force raided a home in Hawthorne on Monday night, officers said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Victor Valdez, a spokesman for the task force, said the raid occurred about 7 p.m. in the 1900 block of Cedar Avenue. The team includes officers from the Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol and police departments of Hawthorne, El Segundo and Torrance.
Valdez said two men were arrested at the home, which served as a “chop shop” for dismantling cars, and the third man was arrested when he drove up in a stolen car.
The three suspects, whose identities were not available, were booked on suspicion of grand theft auto and suspicion of receiving stolen property.
