Humane Society’s Cat

Being a lover of animals in general and cats in particular, I am thoroughly appalled at the article (March 17) on Maggie, the dog-testing cat!
After all, poor Maggie was abandoned as a 4-week-old kitten in a Pasadena dumpster, and she is now 6 years old. You would think that an organization such as the Pasadena Humane Society would not cruelly exploit a cat by using her as a “dog tester,” sometimes to about 18 pooches a week. The photo clearly shows how stressed Maggie truly is.
