Clipper update--This concludes a key back-to-back set against their two closet rivals for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot. The Clippers, who defeated the Suns by 10 points Tuesday night at Phoenix, are now in the seventh spot with a two-game lead over the Suns and a one-game lead over the Kings. The Clippers have lost their last two games to the Kings at Sacramento but have won three consecutive games at the Sports Arena, including a 12-point victory Dec. 14.
King update--They’ve lost six straight games, including 92-87 at Portland Tuesday night. Guard Mitch Richmond, averaging 28.3 points going into the Trail Blazer game, is the NBA’s fourth-leading scorer.
