Duck update--The two longest unbeaten streaks in the NHL are on the line tonight. The Ducks have gone a franchise-record eight games (5-0-3) without a loss, and the Red Wings have gone 11 (6-0-5). “They’ve got a longer streak than us. Maybe they’re riper than we are for a loss,” Coach Ron Wilson joked. During the eight-game streak, Duck goalie Guy Hebert has a .945 save percentage.
Red Wing update--They blew a three-goal lead in a 3-3 tie against the Kings on Monday at the Forum. The Red Wings went undefeated in their first 12 games (9-0-3) against the Ducks but haven’t beaten them this season, playing to a 1-1 tie in Detroit on March 2 and losing, 3-1, Nov. 24 at the Pond. Brendan Shanahan has 42 goals, tying him with the Ducks’ Teemu Selanne for fourth in the NHL.
