It’s hard to imagine a freshman contributing to her team more than Hamel did last week. She assisted the Eagles’ only goal with a long free kick in a 1-0 Division II semifinal victory over Ventura Buena. In the final against Manhattan Beach Mira Costa, she had two assists and made a penalty kick, after drawing the penalty, in a 3-2 victory.

* Laguna Hills, senior. Had 17 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks in a 54-40 victory over Cerritos Gahr in the Division II-AA final.
Niki Szlak/Soccer/Midfielder
* Los Alamitos, sophomore. Had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory over Newhall Hart in the Division I title game.
Stephanie Wettlin/Basketball/Center
* Brea Olinda, senior. Had 20 points in a 57-45 Division II-A victory over Moorpark as Ladycats won their ninth consecutive section title.
