Completion of a $166-million freeway project has been delayed a week for a few final touches.
The last phase of the El Toro Y interchange improvement, the opening of a 300-foot-high carpool lane overpass, had been scheduled for Friday. But California Department of Transportation and Orange County Transportation Authority officials said more striping is needed for the interchange, which is 26 lanes at its widest point.
“We have some striping left before we can open it,” OCTA spokesman John Standiford said.
OCTA and Caltrans now hope to open the carpool connector by March 21.
