Coach: Steve White (26th year).
1996: 16-3, 10-0 in Freeway League, lost to San Marino in Southern Section Division II finals.
Key returners: Tuji Chang, No. 1 doubles, Jr.; John Choi, No. 1 doubles, Jr.; Christopher Chung, No. 1 singles, section individual singles round of 16; Jimmy Chu, No. 2 doubles, So.; Davin Lin, No. 3 singles or doubles, So.; Raj Vyas, No. 2 doubles, So.; Shail Vyas, No. 3 doubles, Sr.
Key newcomers: Jim Findlater, No. 3 doubles, transfer from Whittier Christian, Sr.; Joseph Kao, No. 2 singles, Fr.; John Kim, doubles, Jr.; Richard Kim, doubles, Fr.
Outlook: This isn’t the kind of Sunny Hills team people are used to seeing. Other than Chung, White doesn’t have great singles players, although he likes Kao’s raw ability. The strength of the Lancers this season might be in doubles, where Choi and Chang are returning all-leaguers and Lin was an all-county selection. The Lancers might start slowly as they play defending Division I and II champions Woodbridge and San Marino early, but they should finish strong.
