Coach: Joan Willett (12th year).
1996: 21-4, 8-2 in Sea View League, won Southern Section Division I title, beating Palos Verdes Peninsula in the finals.
Key returners: Adam Artunian, singles, Jr.; Amir Bagherpour, doubles, So.; Tyler Call, doubles, Jr.; Reza Farokhpay, singles, Sr.; Greg Levy, No. 1 doubles, Jr.; David Lingman, So., singles; Brandon Shainfeld, No. 1 doubles, reached quarterfinals of section individual doubles tournament with Levy.
Key newcomers: Ali Kermani, doubles, Los Alamitos transfer, Jr.
Outlook: Woodbridge was weakened when No. 1 singles player Chase Exon and Willett couldn’t work out a dispute over practice time. But not by much. The Warriors still have the county’s most talented team and are a decent bet to repeat as Division I champs. Lingman is completely recovered from a freak back injury and is back to the form that made him the top-ranked 14-year-old in Southern California. Artunian and Farokhpay are solid singles players, and Kermani is a nice addition. Levy and Shainfeld are the county’s top returning doubles team and are tough to beat when they’re on.
