We now need to include all the negatives such as, one presumes, hearsay, innuendo, supposition, premature conclusions, secondhand reportage, projected musings and those subjective personal animosities of co-workers (“If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Say, You’d Better Say It,” Jan. 29).Who knows what may be important? What about those nasty thoughts the subject must have harbored about his boss? Do we include the improprieties of the workplace nonconformist? Does this rule include lawyers, judges and politicians?
Listen closely--that ethereal chuckle you hear is coming from George Orwell. He was only 13 years late.
