Computers, Monitors Donated to Libraries

The Ventura County Library Services Agency has received five additional computers and eight color monitors that will be used to develop an Internet training center for library staff and the public, officials said Tuesday.
The county’s Human Resources Agency donated the equipment that will be used for the so-called Franklin Project, said Trish Cavanaugh, library community relations director. The library agency has already received 28 computers from another donor who wishes to remain anonymous, she said.
The goal is to have an Internet training center set up in a former meeting room at E. P. Foster Library in Ventura by Sept. 1, Cavanaugh said. If all goes as planned, libraries throughout the county would be able to offer Internet training by the end of the year.
Although Foster has been able to offer some limited computer training, Cavanaugh said the new equipment would allow for more in-depth coverage of the Internet and, for the first time, provide computer graphics.
