War Illness Linked to Iraqi Bunker

The investigation into Gulf War syndrome has found the first hint that destruction of a bunker containing Iraq chemical weapons and other arms may have made some troops sick. An examination of health data volunteered by Gulf War troops suggested that those near the Kamisiyah bunker site were slightly more likely to develop pains in their muscles and joints than soldiers farther away. Many veterans have suspected that low-dose exposure to chemical weapons may have had something to do with symptoms of fatigue, aching joints and indigestion that they call “Gulf War syndrome.”
