PLACENTIA — Two officers and a police intern were injured Friday night when one police car rear-ended another on a freeway overpass, investigators said.
About 8 p.m., a Placentia police officer pulled to the side of Placentia Avenue at the Riverside Freeway to issue a traffic ticket, possibly for a red-light violation, Investigator Corinne Loomis said.
“He has stopped on the backside of a hill. . . . He had pulled over, but his car was partly in the street,” Loomis said. “A second police officer comes over across the top of the bridge and runs into the back of the first unit.”
Both officers and a police intern who was riding along were taken to Placentia Linda Community Hospital with possible back and neck injuries, Loomis said.
“They can feel all of their fingers and toes, and they’re talking to each other,” Loomis said. “They’re going to be OK.”
