The city is hosting a tribute to former Mayor George B. Scott, one of Orange County’s longest-serving public officials until he retired from office in December.
The dinner and reception begin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Anaheim Marriott hotel, 700 W. Convention Way, but city officials say seats need to be reserved soon.
Scott already was honored for his service by the City Council at a special ceremony before he resigned to dedicate more time to his insurance business and golf game.
“This is really the special opportunity for people to be able to say thank you,” said Linda Short, City Council secretary and organizer of the event.
Scott, 64, served on the council from 1969 to 1978 and from 1984 to 1996. He helped raise funds for the city’s first public fountain to help the town live up to its name.
Tickets for the party are $27.50 and must be reserved at City Hall before Tuesday.
