Long Beach State had won only once in seven games before defeating winless UC Irvine, 82-69, Saturday, but the 49ers--who have won seven in a row against Fullerton--have one of the Big West’s top players in James Cotton, averaging 24.3 points. Guard Brandon Titus has averaged 19 points a game over the last four games. Dealing with Cotton will be the big challenge for Fullerton, which had won four consecutive games at home before losing to Pacific, 67-60. Forward John Williams continues to lead the Titans with averages of 16 points and 7.3 rebounds.
