SANTA ANA — A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by a car Wednesday as he and his mother apparently were trying to catch a bus near Warner Avenue and Halladay Street, an Orange County deputy coroner said.
Cesar Montero of Santa Ana and his mother were crossing Warner Avenue to chase a bus about 11:20 a.m. when a car struck the child, the deputy coroner said. The child was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he died at 4:35 p.m., authorities said.
The mother, whose name was not available Wednesday night, was not injured.
Santa Ana police did not say if the mother and child were at an intersection or whether the driver was cited.
