A 47-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries when her car collided with a van, investigators said Thursday.

Mai Ngoc Trinh of Westminster was riding home about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday in a car driven by her husband. As he turned left from Beach Boulevard onto Westminster Boulevard, he collided with a van traveling in the opposite direction on Beach, police investigator Al Brackett said.

Trinh “took the impact on her door” and died of blunt force trauma at Columbia Huntington Beach Hospital and Medical Center, Brackett said.

Her husband, Loc Ba Ngo, 48, suffered head injuries and a bruised lung. The couple’s 16-year-old daughter, Lan Ngo, suffered a broken pelvis and broken ribs, Brackett said. Ngo and his daughter were reported in stable condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

Police said the 33-year-old driver of the van was not injured.

Both drivers told investigators they had the green light, but there were no witnesses and police have not been able to determine who had the right of way, Brackett said. Police are continuing to investigate, and neither driver has been cited.
