The defending Division III state champions ranked seventh in the National Prep Basketball Poll, which also ranked the Wolverines first in the West region. . . . Getty ‘97: Will 1997 be the year of the Getty? Yes, but wait. The big museum complex that towers above the Sepulveda Pass won’t really be open until December. That’s a change from the original opening date of 1988. Also changed: the cost, now approaching a cool $1 billion. . . . Bicentennial: When Father Fermin Lasuen built the San Fernando Mission in 1797, little did he know he was laying the foundation for the San Fernando Valley. Now home to 1.5 million people, the Valley will celebrate its 200th anniversary on Sept. 8, the day Lasuen inaugurated the mission, which today is undergoing a restoration, above. . . .
