Park to Provide Buffer for Industrial Zone

A new park will provide Paramount with a buffer zone between residential development and an industrial zone.
Last week the city demolished the last of several vacant properties on the northwest corner of Garfield Avenue and Petrol Street that it had purchased for $250,000. Construction of a grassy picnic area and playground should be completed by June, city officials said.
Near the center of the city, the one-acre park is expected to provide rare open space to residents west of the intersection. To the north and east of the lot are several factories and other industrials sites.
