Pistons Release Kenny Smith

The Detroit Pistons waived nine-year veteran guard Kenny Smith so they could clear a roster spot to activate first-round pick Jerome Williams.
Smith, 31, who joined the Pistons as a free agent in September after playing six seasons with the Houston Rockets, was unable to supplant either Lindsey Hunter or Joe Dumars in Detroit’s guard rotation.
